Birthplace of Cantonese Music

Panyu Shawan He-family music enjoys a long history of more than 700 years, and it lasted in dynasties of Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing, which was developed into a unique school. Its outstanding representative He Bozhong first invented own unique playing skill of “Ten-Finger Pipa” and composed the famous song like “Raindrops Patting on Banana Leaves”, which played an important role to promote Cantonese music in playing and composition. His descendants - He Liutang, He Yunian and He Shaoxia - further improved the composing and playing skills, they composed many famous widely-spread songs such as “Dragon Boat Racing”, “Seven Stars Accompanying the Moon” and “Baitouyin”. The three of them were honored as the “Top Three Talents of He’s Family of Cantonese Music”, while He’s Ancestral Temple is also regarded as the birthplace of the Cantonese music.
